Homeless Program Members from East County Transitional Living Center Now Ready for Careers in Construction Thanks to East County Empowerment Program Created by A.M. Ortega Construction Inc.

On May 25th Maurice Ortega, A.M. Ortega Construction, Inc. Owner & President, honors the first graduating class of the East County Empowerment Program. Participants have completed a month-long boot camp combining classroom studies, hands-on experience, and safety instruction at Ortega’s state-of-the-art training facility in El Cajon, California. Upon graduation, the program members will be ready to be employed by various East County construction and engineering companies, including A.M. Ortega.

EL CAJON, CA – On Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., A.M. Ortega Construction, Inc. Owner and President Maurice Ortega will host a ceremony honoring the first graduating class of the East County Empowerment Program. Participating ECTLC program members have completed their boot camp training and are ready to embark on careers in construction. This program was administered AT NO COST to ECTLC, and was launched with a generous $15,000 donation from A.M. Ortega Construction, Inc. that was presented to Ivan Andujar, Acting CEO of ECTLC. “We are profoundly grateful for Mr. Ortega’s vision, generosity, and willingness to help,” said Mr. Andujar. Mr. Ortega notes, “It is our honor to help these individuals get back on their feet.”

WHO: Maurice Ortega, of A.M. Ortega Construction, Inc., Ivan Andujar, Acting CEO of East County Transitional Living Center, ECTLC program members participating in the training, and  local elected officials. 

WHAT: At 8:30 a.m., Mr. Ortega will make opening remarks at a ceremony honoring the first graduating class of his unique East County Empowerment Program, congratulating the program members who will be awarded Certificates of Acheivement for successfully completing their month-long training.

Mr. Ortega, Mr. Andujar (Acting CEO of ECTLC), and program participants will be available for interviews. 

WHY: To combat homelessness with professional training that leads to good, well-paying jobs. 

OTHER: Tours of the facility and photo opportunities will be available beginning at 8:00am

Since 2009, East County Transitional Living Center (ECTLC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, has served homeless men, women, and families experiencing the danger and despair of homelessness.
