Atlantic City, New Jersey – August 15, 2022 – Blockchain startup TENAMINT has become the first company in history to launch the digital fractionalization of an unopened box of collectable trading cards at the National Sports Collectors Convention (NSCC). The NSCC is the largest gathering of card collectors on the planet and hosts the collectable industry referred to as “The Hobby”.
The sealed case break box contains four boxes of 2021-22 Panini National Treasures basketball cards and customers can buy a spot in the case break for only $168 USD where the boxes combined cost over $18,000 USD. With four boxes, and 30 spots per box, everyone is a winner as all entrants get a fraction of the boxes’ biggest cards.
“TENAMINT is changing the game. We are an online platform that makes it easy to list and trade fractions of sought-after trading cards. For the first time in history, we are fractionalizing a case break,” said TENAMINT Co-Founder and CEO, Nadir Chaudhry.
Card breaks, or “breaks,” are when “breakers” buy an entire box of cards, then charge individual collectors for the opportunity to buy-in and keep a selection of cards from the box. The current problem is only one person can own each card, whereas fractionalizing the break allows everyone participating to receive a fraction in the cards, including the top card.
Co-Founder and COO, Sal Chaudhry, shares the importance of this milestone. “The Hobby is experiencing explosive growth and ready for innovation. TENAMINT is here to make owning a high-value card accessible and blockchain technology makes this possible via fractional ownership.”
The 42nd NSCC event held in Atlantic City from July 27-31 is the biggest annual gathering of sports card enthusiasts with over 350 dealers, over 100,000 attendees, in 460,000 square feet of convention space. The annual event is the largest of the year for the world’s biggest collectors and exhibitors alike.
TENAMINT is a marketplace where you can buy and sell fractions of real trading cards as digital collectibles. Every trading card listed on TENAMINT is stored in an industry-recognized vault, collectors can list their own cards or join the marketplace to buy or sell card tokens, and TENAMINT allows collectors to build a diverse collection of the most coveted cards. Card listers and buyers earn rewards for every transaction that occurs on their card(s).
Collectors can still purchase a place in The National Treasures case break and buy a space in history.
